Jordan’s $8.5 Million Fund to Advance Home Solar Uptake The Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREF) has signed two cooperation agreements with the Cairo Amman Bank and the Islamic Bank of Jordan to provide a 30% subsidy on the total cost of systems for the installation home solar and solar water heaters during the 2025 fiscal year, aiming to reduce energy costs and drive the green transition in the residential sector.
U.S. trade body calls for reform of wholesale energy markets to optimize battery storage use
The American Power Coalition (ACP) recently called for improved mechanisms to allow utility-scale battery storage to participate in wholesale energy, grid capacity, and "ancillary services" markets. ACP noted that the current wholesale market design is showing signs of "obsolescence," and its proposed improvements aim to "enhance grid reliability and ensure that American consumers can benefit from affordable domestic clean energy."
Overseas policies and subsidies for photovoltaic and energy storage (4.7-4.13): The overall trend of policies in Europe and America is positive, while the United States continues to tighten green energy subsidy preferences.
The UK’s long-duration energy storage de-risking mechanism has started to apply, with a goal of 2.7–7.7 of long-duration storage capacity in the first round. The “cap-and-floor” incentive mechanism for long-duration energy storage in the UK has officially started the first round applications. Ofgem previously announced the launch of this investment support mechanism to promote the construction of long-duration storage projects with a duration of more than 8 hours. The minimum capacity for the first round of applications is 100 MW, targeting mature storage technologies that meet the level of technology maturity 9 (TRL9), such as lithiumion batteries. The target of the first round of the new mechanism is 2.7–7.7GW, and it is planned to achieve a total installed capacity of 0GW of long-duration storage by 2050. This policy is expected to leverage more than 10GW, 200GWh of storage projects.
