State Grid of China signs the largest transmission concession project in Brazil

State Grid Brazil Holding Company and the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Authority signed a franchise agreement for the "Brazil Northeast Ultra High Voltage Project" in Brasilia on the 3rd. This project is the largest transmission concession project in Brazilian history. On the same day, witnessed by Brazilian Minister of Mines and Energy Silveira, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Zhu Qingqiao, and other political and business figures, State Grid Brazil Holding Company, the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy, and the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Authority signed an agreement titled "New Energy Transmission of ± 800 kV Ultra High Voltage DC in Northeast Brazil". The project includes the construction of 1468 kilometers ± 800 kV ultra-high voltage direct current transmission lines, converter stations and phase converters at both ends, as well as related AC supporting projects, with a rated transmission capacity of 5 million kilowatts. The project will package and transmit clean energy such as wind power, solar energy, and hydropower from the northeast and north of Brazil, passing through the states of Maranion, Tocantins, and Goas. It can meet the electricity needs of approximately 12 million people in core areas such as the Federal District of the Brazilian capital. It is planned to be put into operation in 2029, with a franchise period of 30 years.
